Former Queen’s Club champion Feliciano Lopez joins Edinburgh tennis legends event
Former world No.12 and 2019 Queen’s Club champion, Feliciano Lopez, is the latest name to join the Brodies Tennis Invitational line up, an event which sees current and former tennis stars battling it out in the Scottish capital.
The Spaniard will join tennis legends including former British No.1s Greg Rusedski and Johanna Konta at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre from 28-30 September. Alongside them will be former World No.8, Mark Philippoussis and Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis, as well as Scottish players Maia Lumsden and Ali Collins, both of whom featured at this year’s Wimbledon championships. Lumsden this week secured a career high ranking of World No. 95 and breaking into the women’s doubles top 100 for the first time following a successful run at Wimbledon where she and partner, Naiktha Bains, reached the quarter finals.
Lopez said: “Some of my biggest career moments have come in front of British crowds, but I have never had the chance to play in Scotland and I can’t wait to be on court and in front of the Scottish fans. I am sure they will see fantastic tennis and some brilliant matches at this year’s Brodies Tennis Invitational.”
With more players still to be announced, the event will see a mixture of singles and doubles matches across the three days of competition, with the champions to be decided in the final sessions on Saturday 30th July.
